Viking Ring Brooch from Høm

The Høm horseshoe brooch was found in Denmark and dates to the 10th century. The original of this remarkable brooch is made of gilded silver and is now in the Danish National Museum in Copenhagen.

The three bearded men's heads on this Viking horseshoe brooch are particularly expressive and typical of the so-called Borre style, which enjoyed great popularity in the Viking Age.

A total of six related horseshoe or ring brooches with bearded faces in the same style are known from Scandinavia, the majority of which come from Norway. The horseshoe brooch from Høm, however, is by far the highest quality example.

The ring of this Viking brooch replica has a diameter of 7 cm, the needle a length of 12 cm.
The replica thus corresponds exactly to the historical dimensions of the original brooch.
